Perfumes that reminds home
One of the most common requests I get by email from visitors of my sites is helping them to find a special perfume that means something to them. In some instances, it's an easy-to-do task. They are looking for a perfume that they know some details of, looking to find their youth's favorite perfume or a nowadays alternative to it. This really does require quite an in depth knowledge and understanding of the perfume industry, and in such cases I have proven myself helpful.
The other type of "perfume-seek" requests I get is a little vague, time consuming, and mostly dependants on the person's own preferences and memory.
People are looking for perfumes that would remind them of their childhood home, their favorite uncle, their long lost love or long lost dog. This is too much of a general description that would require some sort of a magician, mind reader wizard or something of the like to solve.
When I get such a request I usually target it. I try to escort this person to a trip down the memory lane so that he could remind himself of other environmental things. After a few emails back and forth I get what I wanted – "oh yeah, I remember now, we had a giant citrus tree in our yard". Doh. Tell me a citrus perfume, and I could find you dozens in a jiffy. Don't tell me no nonsense about your uncle and his favorite traits, that's none of my business.
So as of today I recommend that if you are looking to find a long lost smell, try to remember what other things were in that time frame/location that could have sprayed smells, and try to find them within the ingredients of your desired perfume! Please, don't ask me personally because I would have to stomp my leg and ignore ya'll.
